Wasiu Olawale Sadare, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has issued a strong warning to party members who have been openly praising Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the party made it clear that such actions will not be tolerated, and those involved risk being removed from the party.
The warning came after reports emerged that some APC members had openly spoken in support of Makinde, a member of the rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
These members praised the governor’s work, calling it beneficial for the state. However, the APC leadership believes these actions go against the party’s interests, especially with the 2027 elections approaching.
According to Sadare, any party member who continues to praise Makinde is not acting in the best interest of the APC. He noted that the party’s goal is to reclaim power in Oyo State in 2027, and those working against this plan have no place in the party.
Sadare described these members as people motivated by personal gain rather than loyalty to the party’s vision. He also stated that the APC has carefully reviewed the activities of these individuals and discovered that some of them are secretly working with the PDP while still claiming to be loyal APC leaders.
In his words: “But for selfishness and poor orientation borne out of indiscipline and myopia, no reasonable member of the APC would turn himself into a propaganda machinery for the current PDP administration which has mortgaged the future of the unborn generations by wasting enormous resources on frivolities and inanity in the last six years.”
He also added that the actions of these individuals are “highly reprehensible and irresponsible,” especially since they still present themselves as respected figures within the APC.
“We have done our diligence and established that those who parade themselves as APC chieftains and still work for PDP in recent times have no reasons to engage in such shameful acts but we would engage them as democrats since some school of thoughts are of the opinion that they were either misinformed or misrepresented,” the statement continued.
