2Baba’s Family Petitions DSS, Declares Singer Missing

The family of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2face, has declared him missing and is seeking the intervention of the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a petition signed by their lawyer, Wilson Anuge, and dated February 7, the Idibia family noted that 2Baba has been unreachable since February 10, 2025. The family stated that the singer left his home in his loungewear, as if going for his usual morning walk, but never returned.

The petition reads in part: “We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a profoundly troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia family, Mr Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface or 2Baba), whom our client reasonably believes has been missing since Monday, February 10, 2025.

“We believe that Mr Innocent left his residence in the early hours of 10 February 2025 in his loungewear, suggesting that he was going for his habitual walk, but he has not returned home since then. Despite the best efforts of his family, staff, and the management of his record label to reach or locate him—including contacting his friends and acquaintances—they have been unable to establish any contact or ascertain his whereabouts.”

The family further noted that this disappearance is unusual for the singer, who has never abandoned his work or been out of touch for such a long time. They added that the situation became even more alarming when some of 2Baba’s close friends started receiving messages from his social media accounts requesting financial assistance.

“These messages are alarming, as Mr Innocent is financially independent and has never required assistance in such a manner,” the petition stated. This has led the family to suspect that his identity might have been compromised or that he may have been abducted by individuals trying to exploit his connections for financial gain.

The family has asked the DSS to step in immediately, using its resources to track down the missing singer. They also expressed concern over the emotional toll this situation has taken on 2Baba’s wife, children, relatives, and employees, as well as the impact on his music career.

Meanwhile, a viral video surfaced online showing 2Baba proposing to Natasha Osaruwa, a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly. This came just hours after reports emerged about his ongoing divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia.

Adding to the mystery, 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, released a video on Friday urging Nigerians to plead with Natasha to release her son. She stated that he had not been acting like himself lately.
