Nigerian Air Force Strikes Destroy Terrorist Food Depot, Kill Many in Lake Chad Region

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out a significant operation targeting terrorist hideouts in the Lake Chad Basin. The operation, which occurred on November 23, 2024, was part of the military’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under Operation Hadin Kai.

According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, the operation focused on Jubillaram, a known terrorist stronghold in the Tumbuns area. Intelligence reports revealed that this location was being used as a key food storage facility and shelter for high-ranking terrorist commanders and their fighters.

Akinboyewa explained, “This strategic location, identified through meticulous intelligence efforts, served as a critical food storage site and a sanctuary for terrorist commanders and fighters.”

The operation followed reports linking the terrorists in this region to an earlier attack on troops in Kareto on November 16, 2024. Acting on this intelligence, NAF fighter jets launched precise airstrikes, targeting the structures used as storage facilities. Many terrorists were neutralized during the strikes, while others were eliminated during follow-up mop-up operations using aircraft cannons.

Extensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions had confirmed the presence of these camouflaged facilities, enabling the military to strike with accuracy. The destruction of the food depot has reportedly disrupted the terrorists’ logistical network, significantly reducing their capacity to carry out further attacks.

“This mission demonstrates the NAF’s unwavering commitment to defending our nation and people,” Akinboyewa stated, adding that the air force would continue its efforts to ensure Nigeria’s security and prosperity.
