Ed Sheeran Apologizes for Interrupting Man Utd’s Amorim During Live Interview

Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has issued a public apology after an unexpected interruption during a post-match interview with Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim. The incident occurred after Sunday’s 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The Portuguese coach, speaking to Sky Sports following his first game in charge of Manchester United, was analyzing the team’s performance when Sheeran inadvertently disrupted the broadcast. Sheeran approached pundit Jamie Redknapp for a brief exchange, seemingly unaware that the interview was in progress.

The moment sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some fans criticizing the musician for his timing. In response, Sheeran took to Instagram to explain and apologize.

“Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, was popping in to say hi and bye to Jamie,” Sheeran wrote. “[Obviously] feel a bit of a b—- but life goes on. Great game though, congrats on all involved x.”

Sheeran, a devoted supporter of Ipswich Town and a minority stakeholder in the club, watched the match from the stands. His passion for the team runs deep, as he also serves as their shirt sponsor. Ipswich fans had much to celebrate, with the team fighting back to secure a draw against Manchester United.

For Amorim, this match marked the start of a new chapter following his appointment as Erik ten Hag’s successor. The manager’s next challenge will be leading Manchester United in their Europa League clash against FK Bodø/Glimt at Old Trafford on Thursday.
