A driver had a narrow escape on Monday when a 40-foot container toppled over and crushed his Toyota Camry, with registration number LSR 293 HJ, along the Mile 2 route leading to Apapa in Lagos. The shocking incident occurred during the busy hours of the day, leaving many bystanders in disbelief at the driver’s survival.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene following the accident. According to Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the rescue operation was a collaborative effort involving LASTMA, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
In a statement shared on the agency’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Taofiq explained that the combined expertise of these agencies ensured the driver was safely extricated from the crushed vehicle. “The driver was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention,” the statement read.
