Those Behind Rumors Of My Death Won’t Escape Tragedy – Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly refuted false rumors of his death that recently spread across social media. Speaking publicly, Obasanjo assured the public that he remains alive and healthy while criticizing those responsible for the distressing speculation.

The former president addressed the issue during the inauguration of the Old-Garage-Oke-Fia-Lameco road in Osun State. The event was attended by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who invited Obasanjo to share his thoughts.

Reflecting on the rumors, Obasanjo, speaking in Yoruba, said, “I heard the rumour that I was dead. I saw it on the social media. I quickly told my children and my relations that it was not true and that I was alive. Those who want me dead, that is their wish but God still keeps me alive.”

He further condemned such harmful behavior, saying, “Why would anyone wish me dead? Those who harbour such thoughts will not escape tragedy themselves. This kind of rumour is not only disturbing but shows the extent to which some people misuse technology. It is unacceptable.”

While addressing the crowd, Obasanjo also praised Governor Adeleke’s governance, noting his dedication to development. “When he came on board some people ridiculously said he has nothing to offer except to dance but he has shown them that he is a good dancer and also a good performer,” Obasanjo remarked.

Governor Adeleke, in his speech, detailed the infrastructure improvements under his administration, highlighting over 120 kilometers of road construction and major flyover projects nearing completion. He also reassured residents of his commitment to delivering all ongoing projects without borrowing funds, emphasizing efficient financial management.
