“I’m Not Afraid to Die” – Bishop TD Jakes Speaks Following Health Scare

Bishop TD Jakes, the renowned pastor and leader of The Potter’s House in Dallas, recently spoke about a health emergency that occurred during a Sunday service, sharing his gratitude for divine protection and the support he received.

In a heartfelt video shared on Wednesday evening, Bishop Jakes addressed his congregation and followers for the first time since the incident.

Sitting in a wheelchair and surrounded by medical staff, the 67-year-old expressed his appreciation to those who prayed for him, sent messages, and supported him through the ordeal. He clarified that his condition, though serious, was not a stroke but could have been fatal without timely medical care.

“I’m so grateful. So grateful to y’all,” Jakes said emotionally, gesturing to the medical team in blue scrubs. He also thanked God for sparing his life, acknowledging the love and prayers of his community. “All the people who prayed, texted, and showed concern—I’m just grateful. Thank you,” he added.

During his message, Bishop Jakes made a powerful declaration: “I’m not afraid to die. I don’t want to hurt my kids, the people who love me, or my church. But I’m grateful for life.” He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his purpose and serving God.

The health scare happened as Bishop Jakes was delivering a sermon. Witnesses said he suddenly sat down and appeared to tremble. The live service broadcast was cut short as church members rushed to assist him.

The Potter’s House later released a statement, reassuring the public that Bishop Jakes was stable and under professional care. “Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hourlong message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement read.

The church expressed gratitude for the community’s outpouring of love and prayers.

Bishop Jakes, now focusing on recovery, emphasized the importance of rest. “My job is to recuperate and reflect on God’s protection,” he shared in an Instagram post. “I owe it to my family and church members to rest as God restores me.”
