A Federal High Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has confirmed the suspension of Chief Ali Odefa as the National Vice Chairman (South East) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The court also directed that he should stop presenting himself as a party official.
The judgment was delivered in the case marked Suit No. FHC/AI/CS/182/2024, which was filed by Herbert Ovuta against Odefa. Justice Hillary Oshomah, presiding over the case, ruled that the suspension of Odefa was legitimate and adhered to the guidelines outlined in the PDP constitution.
Chief Odefa’s suspension took place on October 4, 2024, following allegations of anti-party activities. The PDP Executive Committee in Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, initiated the suspension after an internal review of the accusations against him.
In his ruling, Justice Oshomah emphasized that political parties must maintain internal discipline to ensure unity and adherence to their constitutions. “The actions taken by the PDP align with the principles of fairness and accountability,” the court stated.
