EPL: Arsenal Held by Fulham as Late VAR Decision Denies Victory

Arsenal’s hopes of closing the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool were frustrated by a resilient Fulham side, as a controversial VAR decision left the Gunners settling for a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The match began with Fulham taking an early lead. In the 11th minute, Raul Jimenez capitalized on Arsenal’s weakened defensive setup. Kenny Tete delivered a sharp pass to the striker, who surged forward and unleashed a perfectly curled shot into the far corner past David Raya.

Arsenal struggled to respond for much of the first half, despite dominating possession. Bukayo Saka saw his best chance comfortably saved by Bernd Leno. Fulham’s defensive organization held strong, frustrating the visitors.

The Gunners found their equalizer in the second half through a set-piece. William Saliba converted a close-range effort following a Kai Havertz header from a corner, marking Arsenal’s 23rd goal from corners since last season.

Late in the game, Arsenal thought they had clinched the win when Bukayo Saka found the net, but a VAR review ruled Gabriel Martinelli offside in the build-up. Thomas Partey also missed a clear chance earlier, heading wide from a Declan Rice delivery.

The draw leaves Arsenal six points behind Liverpool, who still have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Fulham celebrated a hard-earned point, highlighting their resilience against a title contender.
