Bayern Munich emerged victorious with a 4-2 win over Heidenheim, thanks to a stunning performance by substitute Jamal Musiala. The victory not only secured all three points for Bayern but also extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
The match, played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, saw Bayern dominate possession but struggle to convert their chances into goals, particularly in the absence of star striker Harry Kane. Despite the pressure, it was Heidenheim who made the first significant move in the second half, equalizing after Bayern’s Dayot Upamecano had given them the lead with a header in the 18th minute.
Upamecano’s mistake early in the second half allowed Heidenheim’s Mathias Honsak to seize an opportunity and equalize. However, Bayern’s manager Vincent Kompany made a crucial substitution, bringing on Musiala in the 59th minute. The young midfielder responded swiftly, scoring just five minutes after his introduction, putting Bayern back in the lead.
As Bayern looked to seal the match, Leon Goretzka added a third goal, but Heidenheim kept fighting, with Niklas Dorsch pulling one back for the visitors. Musiala, however, was determined to make sure Bayern would take all three points. In the final moments of the match, he launched a brilliant counter-attack from the halfway line, finishing with a second goal to secure the 4-2 win.
Bayern’s veteran Thomas Müller was full of praise for Musiala’s impact. “What he’s doing, we expect that from him now. We’re happy we’ve got him,” Müller told Sky Germany.
