Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the early payment of December salaries for all civil servants in the state. The announcement was made through a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Illiya, on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The payment approval, signed on Friday, December 13, underscores the governor’s commitment to ensuring that residents enjoy a smooth yuletide season. According to the statement, Governor Zulum emphasized that no individual—regardless of religious or cultural background—should feel excluded during this festive period.
“Governor Zulum directed as usual that no affected Christians, Muslims, and others should while away their time without feeling a sense of belonging during and after the yuletide, considering the multi-inclusivity and socio-cultural togetherness that exists between the peaceful people of Borno, especially at this period,” the statement read.
This initiative ensures that Christians and other faithful can adequately prepare for the festive season without financial difficulties. Civil servants and pensioners have already begun receiving their salaries as credit alerts were reported to have started coming through early Saturday morning.
Governor Zulum also called on beneficiaries to continue praying for lasting peace in Borno and Nigeria as a whole. He further acknowledged the positive effects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in improving the lives of citizens across the country.
