President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to remain patient as his administration works to address the nation’s economic challenges.
Speaking at the 48th convocation ceremony of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Tinubu reassured the public that the government is committed to implementing reforms that will lead to long-term prosperity for all.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Economy, Dr. Tope Fasua, Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties citizens face due to current economic measures. He emphasized the necessity of enduring short-term hardship to achieve a brighter future.
“Our reform policies were aimed at making Nigeria work for everyone, but the pains that come with the reform must be endured in the meantime,” the president stated.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government would focus on solutions rather than blaming previous administrations for the nation’s struggles. “We have gladly accepted the assets and liabilities of our heroes past without any intention of apportioning blames,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of national unity and cooperation in overcoming economic hurdles, urging citizens to support the government’s efforts. “As we are trying to fix, reconfigure, and correct past mistakes and errors, we implore all Nigerians to cooperate with us,” Tinubu added.
The president expressed optimism about the future, describing the challenges as temporary and promising that the end result would be rewarding. “I am certainly seeing the light at the end of our tunnel,” he concluded.
