Wolves Set to Appoint Vitor Pereira as New Manager After Gary O’Neil’s Exit

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly finalizing the appointment of Vitor Pereira as their new manager after parting ways with Gary O’Neil. According to sources, the struggling Premier League club has reached an agreement with Pereira, who currently manages Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

Reports suggest Wolves will pay a compensation fee of approximately one million euros to secure the services of the Portuguese coach. The 56-year-old has agreed to personal terms and is expected to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract. Pereira is reportedly flying to England on Tuesday, with an official announcement likely to follow within the next 24 hours.

Pereira brings a wealth of experience to the club, having previously managed top teams across Europe. He has won two Primeira Liga titles with Porto and a Greek Super League title with Olympiakos. In 2022, he was considered a strong candidate to replace Rafael Benitez as Everton’s manager but missed out on the role.

Wolves, currently struggling in the league, will face Leicester City on Sunday. They are desperate to climb out of the relegation zone, sitting second from bottom with just nine points after 16 matches. O’Neil, who was appointed in August 2023 and signed a four-year contract, was dismissed after Wolves suffered their fourth consecutive defeat last weekend.
