EPL: Chelsea Held to 0-0 Draw at Everton

Chelsea’s hopes of climbing to the top of the Premier League were dashed after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. The result ended their impressive five-match winning streak in the league, leaving the Blues with only one point behind Liverpool, who still have two games in hand.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was left disappointed but acknowledged the challenge Everton posed. “That was a real game. Everton are one of the best teams in Europe in terms of clean-sheets. We are very happy because this is a tough stadium, not only for us but also in the Premier League,” Maresca said.

The draw was a positive sign for Everton, who are enjoying a promising start under new ownership. With the Friedkin Group now in charge, Everton is four points clear of the relegation zone. The takeover marked the end of Farhad Moshiri’s difficult period at the club, and fans are hopeful for a new chapter.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, there was a remarkable debut for Vitor Pereira at Wolves. Taking over from sacked manager Gary O’Neil, Pereira led his side to a convincing 3-0 win over Leicester, who are struggling near the bottom of the table. Goncalo Guedes opened the scoring, followed by Rodrigo Gomes and Matheus Cunha, ensuring Wolves moved within two points of Leicester.

At the bottom of the table, Southampton managed a 0-0 draw at Fulham, but their situation remains critical. New manager Ivan Juric, who was watching from the stands, has not yet taken charge due to work permit issues. Southampton are now eight points from safety after only one win in 17 league games.
