On New Year’s Day 2025, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu extended her heartfelt welcome to Abuja’s first baby of the year at the Asokoro District Hospital. The special occasion marked the birth of Favour Stephen-Odion, a baby girl born to Mr. Odion Oyinbo and Mrs. Chioma Odion at precisely 12:27 a.m., weighing a healthy 3.6kg.
Accompanied by gifts and warm wishes, the First Lady also celebrated the birth of other New Year babies, including the first baby boy of 2025, Zimchikachim Ejiofor. Born to Mr. Ejiofor Nworie and Mrs. Delight Ejiofor at 7:14 a.m., Zimchikachim weighed 3kg.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, the First Lady expressed her joy and optimism for the future.
She stated, “I am here to represent the mother of the nation to welcome the first baby of the year and other children… Insha Allah, they are the next generation to take over from us.”
Mothers of the newborns received thoughtful baby care packages, nutritional supplies, and cash gifts, symbolizing the administration’s commitment to supporting families. Birth certificates were also handed to the first baby girl and boy of the year.
During her visit, the First Lady emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, timely immunizations, and post-natal care to ensure the babies’ healthy development.
Dr. Rosemary Nwokorie, acting Chief Medical Director of the hospital, praised the First Lady’s efforts and commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for advancing the health sector.
The celebration concluded with a tour of the maternity ward, where the First Lady congratulated other new parents, making the day unforgettable for all families involved.
