Man United End Losing Streak with Thrilling 2-2 Draw Against Liverpool at Anfield

Manchester United ended their four-game losing streak with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. In a match filled with drama, United showcased resilience and determination to deny Liverpool a crucial victory.

Liverpool, six points ahead of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand, had the chance to extend their lead. However, despite goals from Cody Gakpo and a Mohamed Salah penalty, they were unable to secure all three points.

United broke a six-year scoring drought at Anfield when Lisandro Martinez struck a stunning opener in the first half, firing a powerful shot under the crossbar.

Liverpool responded strongly, with Gakpo equalizing in the 60th minute after a brilliant individual effort. Salah then converted a penalty after Alexis Mac Allister’s header struck Matthijs de Ligt’s arm, putting the hosts ahead.

United, however, refused to back down. Amad Diallo salvaged a point for the visitors with a goal in the 80th minute, thanks to a low cross from substitute Alejandro Garnacho. Diallo’s equalizer was well-deserved for United, who showed renewed energy and confidence under pressure.

The draw moved United up to 13th in the table, seven points clear of the relegation zone. Manager Ruben Amorim, under scrutiny after recent defeats, received a much-needed boost with the return of key players Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, and Kobbie Mainoo.

Liverpool had chances to seal the win, but missed opportunities, including a close effort from Gakpo and a superb save by United goalkeeper Andre Onana, kept the game evenly poised. United also had their chances, with Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Maguire coming close to scoring decisive goals.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted before the game that United were “much better” than their league position suggested, and his prediction proved true. While Liverpool remains in a strong position at the top, the match highlighted the competitive spirit of the Premier League.
