Why I Made a U-turn On Tax Reforms Bill – Gov. Sule

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has clarified his reasons for reversing his position on the controversial tax reforms bill.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today program, the governor emphasized that the concerns he initially raised about the bill have now been addressed.

Governor Sule, who was previously one of the most vocal critics of the bill among northern leaders, explained that his opposition was not to the idea of tax reforms itself but to specific provisions in the bill’s original draft.

He stated that the main objective was to ensure a detailed review and discussion of the bill before its approval.

“We have achieved our goal, and that is the reason today I talk differently. I talk differently because the goal we wanted to achieve has been achieved.

“We wanted the bill to be further discussed and not passed in its original form. Now, there are opportunities for further review, and I commend the House of Representatives, particularly the speaker, for the way they have handled the issue,” Sule stated.
