The National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance has warned that it might halt the allocation of funds to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in the 2025 budget.
This decision followed a presentation by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who appeared before the committee to justify the agency’s budgetary needs for the coming year.
During his breakdown of JAMB’s 2024 financial activities, Oloyede revealed that the agency remitted ₦4 billion to the Consolidated Revenue Fund while receiving ₦6 billion in grants from the Federal Government.
However, the committee was dissatisfied with this arrangement, questioning why a revenue-generating body should still rely on government allocations. Abiodun Faleke, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, expressed frustration over the agency’s spending habits.
