Delta Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father After Taking Colorado

A 23-year-old man, identified as Prince Nyerovho, has been taken into police custody in Sapele, Delta State, for allegedly stabbing his 65-year-old father to death. The tragic incident, which occurred on Sunday in the Amukpe area, has left residents in disbelief and mourning.

According to reports from family and community members, Prince had a long-standing history of addiction to synthetic drugs, particularly a substance known as “Colorado,” a variant of synthetic cannabinoids commonly referred to as “Spice.” This addiction reportedly triggered several violent outbursts over the years, deeply affecting his family.

“This isn’t the first time Prince has exhibited violence under the influence of drugs,” a family source disclosed. “His addiction had spiraled out of control, making him unpredictable. His mother did her best to help, but the financial burden was too much to bear.”

Efforts to rehabilitate Prince had reportedly failed due to financial constraints. His mother had sought help from rehabilitation centers in Benin City and a mental health facility in Sapele, but resources ran dry, leaving the family in a state of helplessness.

On the fateful day, after consuming Colorado, Prince reportedly demanded N5,000 from his father. When the request was denied, his anger escalated. In an attempt to avoid confrontation, his father locked himself in his room. However, Prince allegedly broke down the door in a fit of rage.

Amid the chaos, Prince’s younger sister tried to intervene but was injured in the process. A neighbor recalled, “She tried her best to stop him, but he wouldn’t listen. It was terrifying.”

Neighbors, hearing the commotion, rushed to the house and discovered Prince’s father lying lifeless on the floor. Prince’s sister raised the alarm, prompting a swift community response.

The police were called, and neighbors subdued Prince before handing him over to law enforcement. The victim’s body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy, while Prince remains in custody as investigations continue.
