Everton Beats Sloppy Spurs 3-2 to Ease Relegation Pressure

Everton delivered a crucial 3-2 victory over a struggling Tottenham Hotspur side on Sunday, a win that significantly boosted their fight against relegation in the Premier League.

The result also heightened the pressure on Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou as his team faced its 12th league defeat of the season.

The match at Goodison Park showcased Everton’s newfound determination under returning manager David Moyes.

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Iliman Ndiaye, and an unfortunate own goal by Tottenham’s Archie Gray gave the Toffees a commanding lead before halftime.

This win marks Everton’s first league victory in seven games, pulling them four points clear of the relegation zone.

Tottenham, missing key players due to injuries—including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Destiny Udogie, along with record signing Dominic Solanke—struggled to find stability.

Despite a spirited second-half effort, Spurs failed to recover from their dismal first-half performance.

Everton opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Calvert-Lewin fired in an impressive shot, showcasing renewed confidence after a lengthy goal drought.

Ndiaye doubled the lead with a dazzling solo effort, dribbling past Tottenham’s static defense before finding the net. A corner mishap further punished Spurs as Gray’s misdirected touch turned Calvert-Lewin’s flick into his own goal, leaving Tottenham trailing 3-0 at halftime.

Postecoglou attempted to salvage the game by bringing on Richarlison, a former Everton player, after the break. Spurs showed glimpses of improvement as Dejan Kulusevski’s chipped pass led to a goal, followed by Richarlison’s late strike in stoppage time. However, the early damage proved insurmountable.

The defeat leaves Tottenham in 15th place, just four points above Everton. Fans voiced their frustrations, directing chants at chairman Daniel Levy rather than the embattled manager.

With the team still alive in three cup competitions, questions remain about whether a managerial change could reignite their season.
