Donald Trump, on Monday, was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, marking the beginning of his second term.
During his inauguration, Trump declared that divine intervention saved him from assassination attempts during his campaign, enabling him to pursue his vision of restoring America’s prominence on the global stage.
In his inaugural address, Trump outlined an ambitious agenda, promising immediate and transformative actions.
He stated, “The golden age of America begins right now. From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world.” Among his key priorities is the deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants, whom he referred to as “criminal aliens,” along with deploying military forces to secure the southern border.
Trump also announced plans to declare a national energy emergency aimed at significantly expanding oil and gas drilling, claiming this measure would tackle inflation and boost economic growth. “We will ‘Drill, baby, drill,’” he said. He further vowed to overhaul trade policies, imposing tariffs on foreign nations to benefit American citizens and protect domestic industries.
Addressing social policies, Trump emphasized a stance on gender identity, stating, “As of today, it will, henceforth, be the official policy of the United States Government that there are only two genders — male and female.”
Internationally, Trump expressed intent to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord and to reclaim the Panama Canal from Chinese control. “We’re taking it back,” he asserted.
Global leaders extended congratulatory messages following Trump’s inauguration. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed hope for strong transatlantic relations, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau underscored the importance of collaboration. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s pro-Israel policies, stating, “The best days of our alliance are yet to come.”
In his message, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced openness to dialogue on the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the importance of lasting peace. “We certainly welcome this attitude,” Putin said.
Back home, Pastor William Kumuyi of the Deeper Life Bible Church prayed for divine wisdom for Trump, urging unity between the church and leadership. His prayer reflected the hopes of many who believe Trump’s presidency could herald positive changes for the nation.
