Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State was thrown into panic on Sunday as armed men abducted Zainab, the daughter of a prominent businessman, Alhaji Auwal, despite collecting ₦8 million from the family.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the day when about ten armed men stormed the family’s residence.
According to sources, the attackers forced their way into the house, breaking down the door. Three of the gunmen were reportedly armed with firearms, while the rest carried other dangerous weapons.
An eyewitness described the terrifying ordeal, stating, “They gathered the entire family in one place, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic. The head of the family pleaded with them to spare his family, offering to meet their demands in exchange for their safety.”
The source further revealed that after being handed ₦8 million in cash, the assailants still went ahead to kidnap Zainab, the eldest daughter of the household and a recent secondary school graduate. The abductors fled the scene with their victim, leaving the family in distress.
As of now, there has been no communication from the kidnappers, and the whereabouts of Zainab remain unknown. The family is reportedly living in fear, hoping for her safe return.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragedy in Kano, where Atiku Mu’azu, a former Gombe State Permanent Secretary, was abducted and killed after a ransom of ₦10 million was paid.
