A woman who was kidnapped from her home in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, within the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been found dead.
The woman, identified as Mrs. Esther Adesiyan, was taken alongside her husband, Mr. Adesiyan Michael Akinropo, her son, and her husband’s elder brother during a violent attack in the early hours of Monday.
The armed men, after abducting the family, proceeded to another building where a poultry farm was located. There, they kidnapped another man and injured his wife before fleeing with their captives.
A family member, who requested anonymity, told Abuja Metro that Mrs. Adesiyan’s body was discovered on Tuesday morning in the Ijah-Gbagyi community in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Local vigilantes in the area were informed about the discovery, and they quickly reached out to their counterparts in Chikakore for further confirmation.
“The DPO of the Byazhin division here in Kubwa called me in the morning, and together we moved to the village to evacuate her remains. It has been deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital’s morgue,” the source said.
It is suspected that the woman was unable to keep up with the kidnappers while being led through the bush. This may have led to her being killed, while the attackers continued their journey with the remaining victims.
Mrs. Adesiyan was a mother of four, including the son who was taken alongside her. The abductors had not yet contacted the family as of Tuesday evening.
