Obasa: No Confirmation of Meeting Between Tinubu and Lagos Assembly Members, Says Presidency Source

The presidency has cast doubt on reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with certain members of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The unconfirmed reports claimed that the meeting involved several prominent political figures, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, and Tajudeen Olusi, the leader of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC). Additionally, other members of the assembly were said to have attended the meeting as well.

However, when approached for clarification on the matter, a presidency source told Vanguard, “I am not sure Tinubu met with them.”

On January 13, 2025, the Lagos State House of Assembly formally removed Mudashiru Obasa from his position as Speaker. This event marked a significant shift in the leadership of the assembly, but it remains unclear whether any discussions with President Tinubu were part of the process.
