APC Chieftain Applauds Tinubu for Removing Three Electoral Officials

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his decision to remove three Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

Oyintiloye described the action as a major step towards strengthening Nigeria’s electoral system and ensuring credible elections. He noted that Tinubu’s approach, which involved seeking the Senate’s approval before the final dismissal, showed a clear collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government in the interest of the nation.

The former lawmaker, who once represented Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, made these remarks in a statement released in Osogbo on Sunday.

He noted that the removal of the RECs serves as a warning to election officials across the country, stressing that any form of misconduct within the electoral system would not be tolerated.

According to him, dismissing the three commissioners—Ike Uzochukwu (Abia), Hudu Yunusa-Ari (Adamawa), and Nura Ali (Sokoto)—after their suspension is a necessary step to rebuild public confidence in the electoral process and promote accountability.

“I commend the President for taking this bold step to terminate the appointments of the suspended RECs. It is a clear indication that he is committed to ensuring free, fair, and credible elections that Nigerians can be proud of,” Oyintiloye said.

He further stated that the decision reinforces Tinubu’s anti-corruption stance and sends a strong message that public servants must uphold integrity.

“The President has pledged to fight corruption, and this move reinforces that commitment. It sends a strong message to public servants that Nigeria is moving forward and there will be consequences for misconduct,” he added.

Oyintiloye also urged the President to remain consistent in his fight against electoral malpractice, noting that recent actions taken against corrupt officials are already having a positive impact on the system.
