The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a sweeping victory in the Osun State local government elections, winning all 30 chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state.
The Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Hashim Abioye, announced the results during a press briefing on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital.
He noted that PDP candidates won all the councillorship seats in all 332 wards in the state, as well as the chairmanship elections in all 30 local government council areas.
So far, there have been no reports of major electoral violence or irregularities. However, opposition parties have yet to officially react to the outcome.
