Fernandes Inspires Ma United Comeback in 2-2 Draw Against Everton

Manchester United avoided another defeat after coming from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday. Bruno Fernandes played a key role in the fightback, helping United recover from a two-goal deficit.

Everton took the lead in the 19th minute after a chaotic moment in United’s defense allowed Beto to strike the ball into the net. The home team doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when Abdoulaye Doucoure reacted quickly to a loose ball and headed it past Andre Onana.

United struggled to create opportunities for most of the match, failing to register a shot on target until late in the second half. However, Fernandes gave the visitors hope with a well-taken free kick in the 72nd minute that caught Jordan Pickford off guard.

Just a few minutes later, Manuel Ugarte capitalized on Beto’s attempted clearance from another Fernandes free kick, scoring his first goal for the club and bringing United level.

The match nearly took a dramatic turn in stoppage time when Everton were awarded a penalty after Ashley Young appeared to be fouled inside the box. However, after a VAR review, referee Andy Madley reversed his decision, allowing United to escape with a point.

With this result, Everton moved up to 12th place in the Premier League standings, while United remained in 15th. Everton, under David Moyes’ leadership, have significantly improved in recent weeks, collecting 14 points from their last six matches.

Meanwhile, United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, continues to struggle, having won just three of his 13 league matches since taking charge.

Goodison Park, Everton’s home since 1892, has only a few games left before the team moves to their new 53,000-capacity stadium next season. The club and fans are determined to make the most of the final matches at the historic ground.
