Enugu APC Faction Expels Agballa, Others Over Alleged Misconduct

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has announced the expulsion of the suspended state chairman, Ugochukwu Agballa, along with eight other party members. The faction, led by acting chairman Alphonsus Nwafor, accused them of gross misconduct and violation of the party’s constitution.

The decision was made public on Tuesday through a statement issued at the end of the party’s executive meeting. The state publicity secretary, Chief Charles-Solo Akor, noted that Agballa and the other expelled members had allegedly disregarded court orders and acted against the party’s principles.

The statement, which was jointly signed by Nwafor and Akor, read, “The leadership of APC Enugu State Chapter does hereby officially expel Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Augustine Alumona, Jude Chinedu Aniogbo, Moses Emeka Eze, Sunday Ugwoke, Ugwu Christian Kanayo, Eze Chidiebere Johnson, Queen Charles, and Onyekachi T. Ezeagu from APC Enugu State Chapter.”

According to the faction, the expelled members were also accused of intimidating and arresting party members who openly supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to Enugu on January 4, 2025. The faction noted that their actions had caused division within the party, leading to a loss of unity among members.

The statement further noted that Agballa and his associates had been disobeying a court order that restrained them from conducting any meetings as the leadership of the APC State Executive Committee in Enugu.

“This decision reflects our firm stance on accountability and ethical governance. The integrity of our party is non-negotiable,” the statement added.
