Man United Beats Ipswich 3-2 as Dorgu Sees Red

Manchester United secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town on Wednesday night, but the win came with a setback as defender Patrick Dorgu received a straight red card. The 20-year-old, who recently joined from Lecce in the January transfer window, now faces a three-match suspension in domestic competitions.

Dorgu, making just his third appearance for United, had an eventful night. He played a key role in the opening goal when Jaden Philogene found the net in the fourth minute.

However, Ipswich responded, turning the game around with an own goal from Sam Morsy and a strike from Matthijs de Ligt, giving United the lead before the controversial moment involving Dorgu.

The Danish defender was sent off in the 43rd minute after a late challenge on Omari Hutchinson. Initially, referee Darren England gave a yellow card, but following a VAR review, it was upgraded to a red. The decision left United with ten men for the remainder of the match.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Philogene quickly restored United’s lead before halftime with his second goal of the night. The advantage didn’t last long as Ipswich continued to press, but United captain Harry Maguire rose to the occasion early in the second half. His powerful header secured the win and ensured United took all three points.

Dorgu’s suspension means he will miss United’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Fulham on Sunday, as well as crucial Premier League fixtures against Arsenal at Old Trafford and Leicester City away. However, he will still be available for United’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 ties against Real Sociedad.
