The embattled former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, presided over a plenary session on Tuesday despite his removal. The session took place with only four lawmakers present, while the majority of the assembly members refused to participate.
The development followed a dramatic turn of events, as security personnel forcefully opened the doors to the chamber. The plenary, which started around 3:00 p.m., continued for at least 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, more than 26 lawmakers were reportedly in the assembly complex but chose to stay away from the chamber. Their absence was seen as an expression of loyalty to Mojisola Meranda, who is recognized as the substantive Speaker.
