The Lagos State Police Command has reinstated the security details assigned to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda. This move comes after the officers attached to her office and residence were withdrawn on Thursday morning.
Former Speaker Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who was recently impeached, had his security personnel reinstated before making a dramatic return to the assembly complex. Reports indicate that Obasa went as far as presiding over a plenary session attended by only four lawmakers, declaring himself as Speaker.
Addressing the situation, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, confirmed on Thursday that the four police officers assigned to Speaker Meranda had been restored. He noted that the withdrawal of security personnel was part of a broader police audit affecting various high-profile individuals in the state.
