Man’s Ending Far Better Than Beginning, Adeboye Says as He Celebrates 83rd Birthday

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has urged people to focus on securing a better future. Speaking during the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service in Lagos, which coincided with his 83rd birthday, Adeboye shared biblical insights and personal reflections on how one’s life can end far better than it began.

During the sermon, he stressed the importance of making wise choices today to ensure a brighter tomorrow. He referenced Isaiah 3:10, which says, “Say to the righteous, it shall be well with him.” He explained that life consists of three phases—past, present, and future—stating that decisions made in the past influence the present, and today’s actions shape the future.

“The past is the mother of today. The present has the DNA of the past. You’re who you are today because of certain decisions you took in the past,” Adeboye remarked. He encouraged the congregation to be mindful of their choices, reminding them that a good ending is more important than how one starts in life.

To support his message, Adeboye spoke about Abraham’s journey, explaining how God’s blessings increased through generations. “God blessed Abraham in all things and made him great. Isaac, his son, was very great. Jacob, the son of Isaac, was exceedingly great,” he said. He pointed out that Abraham’s single recognized child grew into a nation, demonstrating God’s ability to multiply and elevate those who remain faithful.

He also emphasized the importance of raising children with discipline and godly values. “Train your children because they are your tomorrow. The Yorubas say a child you don’t train will sell the house you are building,” he warned. Adeboye cautioned parents against allowing children to grow without guidance, stating that failure to instill the right values could lead to problems in the future.

To young people, he stressed the significance of honoring parents. “You’re not only to obey your parents; you are to honor them. It is by honoring your parents that you will live long.”

Adeboye also encouraged diligence, humility, and generosity as key principles for a great future. He reminded the congregation that hard work and consistency bring rewards. “Learn to sow. It is what you sow in the present that will be your harvest in the future. Also, be diligent. God is a rewarder of those who are diligent,” he said.

On humility, he warned against pride, calling it a hindrance to success. “Pride is a killer. God resists the proud. You can’t have a future if God is constantly resisting you,” he stated, urging people to submit to God for a secure and prosperous future.

Concluding his message, Adeboye reassured the congregation that a glorious future is assured for those who have faith in Christ. “You have a glorious future if Christ lives in you,” he declared.
