The family of the late Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has released the official programme for his burial. Chief Adebanjo, a respected elder statesman and political figure, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 96.
The burial events will take place over four days, starting on April 30, 2025, with a Day of Tributes and Service of Songs at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos State. The programme will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is expected to be attended by political figures, associates, and loved ones who wish to honor his legacy.
On May 2, 2025, a Wake Service will be held at Chief Adebanjo’s country home in Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The service is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will provide an opportunity for family and close friends to pay their last respects.
The Church Service and Funeral Rites will take place on May 3, 2025, at St. Phillips Anglican Church, Isanya Ogbo, Ijebu Ode. The service, set to begin at 10 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m., will be followed by the final burial rites.
The final event in the programme is a Thanksgiving Service, scheduled for May 4, 2025, at the same church. This service will begin at 10 a.m. and will be a moment for family and friends to express gratitude and celebrate Chief Adebanjo’s life and contributions.
