Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi as the new Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt. The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, on Thursday.
The brief statement confirmed that the appointment is effective immediately. It said, “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, as the new Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt. The appointment takes immediate effect.”
Prof. Zeb-Obipi’s appointment follows the conclusion of the tenure of the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, whose term officially ended on March 5, 2025. The change in leadership marks a new phase for the university, as Zeb-Obipi steps in to oversee academic and administrative affairs.
The new Vice Chancellor is expected to bring his experience and expertise to the institution, continuing efforts to improve education standards and research at the university. Rivers State University, one of the leading institutions in the state, plays a key role in higher education and professional training in the region.
