President Bola Tinubu has extended warm birthday wishes to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as he marks his 68th birthday. Tinubu, who described Osinbajo as a close ally and friend, acknowledged his contributions to Nigeria’s governance and legal reforms.
Professor Osinbajo, a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, served as the country’s Vice President from 2015 to 2023. President Tinubu noted that Osinbajo worked closely with former President Muhammadu Buhari to implement key policies and infrastructural projects aimed at national development.
Reflecting on their long-standing relationship, Tinubu recalled that Osinbajo was instrumental in shaping legal and political reforms during his tenure as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State when Tinubu was governor. According to him, Osinbajo’s expertise in law played a vital role in strengthening governance and judicial processes in the state.
The President also acknowledged the period when Osinbajo acted as President while Buhari was on medical leave in the United Kingdom, noting that he displayed strong leadership during that time.
Furthermore, Tinubu recognized Osinbajo’s participation in the 2023 presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), where both contested for the party’s ticket. He noted that the former Vice President exercised his democratic rights and freedom by joining the race.
“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate. He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari. He made all of us in the All Progressives Congress proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour,” Tinubu remarked.
