U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will purchase a Tesla to show his support for the company’s CEO, Elon Musk.
Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform early Tuesday morning, praising Musk for his contributions and criticizing those he claims are trying to undermine him.
“To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!,” Trump wrote.
He further claimed that political opponents were working against Musk and Tesla. “But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla, one of the World’s great automakers, and Elon’s ‘baby,’ in order to attack and do harm to Elon, and everything he stands for,” he said.
Trump declared that he would personally buy a Tesla the next day as a sign of support. “I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,” he added.
Musk, who is also the world’s richest person, responded to Trump’s post on X, thanking him for his backing.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has put Musk in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency tasked with cutting federal spending.
However, these cost-cutting efforts have been met with significant opposition, including protests, legal challenges, and pushback from lawmakers.
