“We Ran Out Of Luck” Slots Reacts to Liverpool Champions League Elimination

Liverpool’s Champions League journey ended in heartbreak as they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a dramatic penalty shootout at Anfield. Manager Arne Slot described it as the “best game” he had ever been part of but admitted his side ran out of luck.

Despite leading 1-0 on aggregate after Harvey Elliott’s late winner in Paris, Liverpool struggled to capitalize on their chances. Ousmane Dembélé’s 12th-minute goal brought PSG level, and the match remained tense until penalties decided the outcome.

Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones failed to convert their spot-kicks, while PSG scored four out of four to secure victory.

“It was an incredible performance, especially if you compare it with last week,” Slot noted. “We were creating chances and then we were 1-0 down. We ran out of luck after last week.”

Liverpool had dominated the group stage but faced a tough challenge in PSG. Slot questioned whether finishing first in the new format truly provided an advantage. With their European campaign over, Liverpool now shift focus to their Premier League title race.
