JUST IN: Rivers Assembly Asks DSS to Probe CJ Over Age Falsification

The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, over allegations of age falsification.

The matter was brought up during a plenary session on Thursday after the leader of the House, Hon. Major Jack, presented certain documents to the assembly. These documents reportedly raised concerns about the true age of the Chief Judge while in service.

Following this presentation, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Dumle Maol, voiced his concerns regarding the allegations. He stated, “These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”

The statement led to a discussion among lawmakers, with members deliberating on the appropriate course of action. The assembly ultimately decided to write a formal letter to the Director of the DSS, requesting a thorough investigation into the matter.

Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, also weighed in on the issue, stating, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”

Following a voice vote, the legislators reached a consensus to formally ask the DSS to probe the allegations and report back with its findings.
