Chelsea Shocks Man United, Signs Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP

Chelsea have successfully reached an agreement to sign promising Portuguese winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP. The young talent is set to officially join the Premier League side in 2026.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Friday via X, revealing that Quenda has already completed his medical and agreed to a long-term contract with Chelsea. The deal was finalized swiftly, with both clubs coming to terms on the transfer. The agreement includes a seven-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year.

Romano stated: “Chelsea agree deal for Portuguese top talent Geovany Quenda—here we go. Medical done for Quenda after secret blitz, he will join Chelsea in 2026. Club-to-club agreement completed with Sporting, and Quenda said yes to Chelsea’s project and Enzo Maresca’s plans.

“Geovany Quenda’s contract at Chelsea will be valid for the next seven years, all agreed last night. There will be also an option to extend the agreement for +1 year.”

The 18-year-old winger has been making a name for himself in Portugal, attracting interest from several European clubs. However, Chelsea moved quickly to secure his signature, convinced of his potential to develop into a key player for the club in the future.

Quenda has reportedly given his full approval to Chelsea’s vision and the plans of new head coach Enzo Maresca. The Blues have been focusing on signing young talents in recent years, aiming to build a strong foundation for the future.

While Quenda will remain at Sporting CP for now, Chelsea fans will be eager to see how he progresses before making the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2026. The move aligns with Chelsea’s strategy of acquiring young, high-potential players who can grow into first-team regulars.
