NAF Airstrikes Hit Terrorist Camps in Katsina, Over 20 Killed

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out airstrikes targeting terrorist camps along the Funtua-Gusau Road in Katsina State. The operation, which took place on March 13, 2025, was part of the ongoing military effort to combat banditry and restore security in the region.

Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, noted the details of the operation on Saturday. He stated that the airstrikes were executed by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, targeting hideouts located in the Unguwar Goga Hill forest and Ruwan Godiya Ward within Faskari Local Government Area.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has delivered a devastating blow to banditry in Katsina State, as the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma executed a precision airstrike in the early hours of 13 March 2025,” Ali stated.

According to the report, the airstrikes specifically hit the camps of two notorious bandit leaders, Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga. These individuals were known for sheltering terrorist elements involved in frequent ambushes and kidnappings along the Funtua-Gusau Road, especially between Yankara and Sheme villages. The strike resulted in the deaths of over 20 criminals, with more casualties expected as the situation is further assessed.

“The strikes neutralised over 20 criminals, with additional casualties reported in the surrounding rocky hills,” the Air Force said, adding that the full extent of the damage is still being evaluated.
