We Didn’t Borrow to Accomplish Achievements in 3 Years – Gov Soludo

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has stated that his administration has made significant progress in the past three years without taking any loans. The governor made this known on Sunday during a thanksgiving Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Awka. The event was held as part of the celebrations leading up to his third anniversary in office on March 17.

Governor Soludo reflected on his tenure, noting that his administration has worked hard to deliver on its promises. He pointed out that the government has commissioned over 750 kilometers of roads, with more than 400 kilometers already completed. Additionally, he mentioned that over 8,000 teachers have been recruited, and public schools have been rehabilitated to improve the education sector.

Beyond infrastructure and education, Soludo also noted achievements in youth empowerment, agriculture, security, and healthcare. He described Anambra as a leading state in Nigeria’s health sector and emphasized that all these were accomplished without borrowing money.

“We have done all these without borrowing one kobo in three years,” he said.

The governor further stated that his vision for Anambra is to transform it into the “Dubai, Taiwan, and Silicon Valley of Africa” by harnessing the state’s natural resources and skilled workforce. He assured the people of Anambra that his administration remains committed to fulfilling its promises.

“We still have one more year left in this tenure, and I want to assure you that we will continue working diligently every single day to fulfill the promises we made to you,” Soludo stated. “So far, we are on track to laying the foundations for realizing the Anambra of our dreams.”

Governor Soludo also expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for their continuous support and prayers.

During the thanksgiving event, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, delivered a sermon where he described leadership as a sacred responsibility. According to him, holding a position such as governor, senator, or bishop is a stewardship role that requires accountability and commitment to both God and the people.

Kukah praised Soludo’s achievements over the past three years, noting that Anambra has a history of leaders who leave a positive impact.

“I’m from Kaduna State, but I must admit I’m jealous of the progress in Anambra. You have consistently had governors who leave their unique mark in terms of good governance,” Kukah said.

He also recognized Anambra’s history of producing notable individuals, including Cardinal Francis Arinze, the late Chinua Achebe, Chimamanda Adichie, and the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme.

“I have seen some of the projects by Gov. Soludo, and I commend him. These are projects that will improve the quality of life of the people,” he added.

Kukah prayed for the success of the governor’s agenda, particularly in areas of security, education, health, and empowerment for women and youths.
