President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with key security chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The meeting, which started around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, also includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
Our correspondent observed that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, were also seen arriving at the Presidential Villa. However, it is unclear if they are participating in the discussions with the security officials.
Also present at the high-level meeting are the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, along with the Directors General of the State Security Service, Mr. Adeola Ajayi, and the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.
While the exact purpose of the emergency meeting has not been disclosed, it comes just hours after an explosion occurred at the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo Community, located in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The explosion, which took place late Monday night, happened near the construction site of the Bodo-Bonny Road. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the pipeline incident is linked to the discussions at the Presidential Villa.
