Oyo Assembly Suspends LG Chairman Over Alleged Misconduct

The Oyo State House of Assembly has suspended Emmanuel Adedokun, the Chairman of Saki East Local Government Area, over allegations of gross misconduct.

The suspension, which takes effect immediately, was announced during the Assembly’s plenary session on Tuesday. The decision followed a petition submitted by 11 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saki East, accusing Adedokun of repeatedly ignoring directives from Governor Seyi Makinde since assuming office.

As part of the resolution, the Assembly has directed the council’s Vice Chairman, Razaq Adeyemi, to take over as Acting Chairman. Meanwhile, the council’s Secretary will step in as Acting Vice Chairman until the conclusion of an investigation by the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The lawmakers noted that Adedokun’s suspension would remain in place until further notice.
