Former U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reached an agreement on a ceasefire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump shared details of their conversation in a post on Truth Social, describing it as “a very good and productive one.” He confirmed that both leaders agreed to an “immediate ceasefire on all energy and infrastructure” while working towards a broader peace deal.
The former president stated that discussions included the high number of casualties on both sides and the shared desire of Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to bring the conflict to an end.
“Many elements of a Contract for Peace were discussed, including the fact that thousands of soldiers are being killed, and both President Putin and President Zelenskyy would like to see it end.
“That process is now in full force and effect, and we will, hopefully, for the sake of humanity, get the job done!” Trump wrote.
He also claimed that the war would not have started if he had been in office at the time.
