UCL: Inter Edge Past Bayern to Reach Champions League Semi-final Clash With Barcelona

Inter Milan reached the last four of the UEFA Champions League after holding Bayern Munich to a dramatic 2-2 draw at the San Siro on Wednesday night, progressing 4-3 on aggregate. The result sets up a mouthwatering semi-final showdown with Spanish giants Barcelona.

The match was played in tough weather, with heavy rain and swirling wind making conditions difficult for both teams. Still, Inter found the strength to push through and deliver in front of their home crowd.

The quarter-final second leg was intense from start to finish. After a goalless first half filled with missed chances and solid defending, Bayern’s Harry Kane brought the tie level in the 52nd minute. His well-taken goal cut through the rain-soaked night and gave the German side hope.

But Inter Milan responded quickly. Within minutes, Lautaro Martinez controlled a corner from Federico Dimarco and smashed the ball into the net, giving Inter a 3-2 lead on aggregate.

Just moments later, Benjamin Pavard added another for Inter with a powerful header, taking advantage of another set piece and pushing the score to 4-2 over both legs.

Although Bayern’s Eric Dier scored with a looping header in the 75th minute, it wasn’t enough to turn things around. Even with late pressure and a chance for Kane deep in stoppage time, Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer made a crucial save to protect the lead.

Bayern’s dream of a seventh European title ended in disappointment. The Bundesliga leaders struggled with key injuries and couldn’t break Inter’s momentum. It was also their first Champions League match without a win at Inter’s ground, having won all three previous meetings in Milan.

Simone Inzaghi’s team now moves one step closer to repeating the famous treble of 2010 under Jose Mourinho. Inter are leading the Serie A title race, and they are also in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup, where they face AC Milan.
