Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has come out publicly to shut down circulating claims that he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor made this clear through posts on his verified social media accounts, stating firmly that he remains a committed and loyal member of the PDP.
“I am Dauda Lawal, a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Disregard the fake news from detractors determined to distract us from the RESCUE MISSION we have embarked on,” he said.
The rumors had been gaining traction across various platforms, with political observers speculating about a potential defection due to recent political movements in the region.
However, Governor Lawal noted that his focus is fully on fulfilling the promises he made during his campaign, and not on political games or distractions.
He further stated that the so-called defection reports were nothing but false stories pushed by people who are not happy with the progress being made in Zamfara. According to Lawal, those behind the claims are simply trying to shift attention away from the ongoing development efforts in the state.
“There is no truth to any of it,” a source close to the governor shared. “He is focused on his responsibilities and wants to improve the lives of Zamfara citizens.”
