GOCOP Congratulates Femi Soneye on NIPR Spokesperson of the Year 2025 Win

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has congratulated Mr Femi Soneye for his recent recognition as the Spokesperson of the Year in the Oil and Gas Sector. The award, which was presented to him on Thursday, April 17 by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), celebrates outstanding communication efforts in Nigeria’s energy sector.

Mr. Soneye, who currently serves as the Chief Corporate Communications Officer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), received the honor in the presence of several dignitaries, including the NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku.

In a statement issued on Sunday, April 20, GOCOP President Maureen Chigbo praised Mr. Soneye’s professional approach and consistent delivery of clear, transparent communication to the public.

According to the statement signed by the Guild’s Publicity Secretary, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, Chigbo noted: “This recognition is a shining affirmation of your commitment to transparency, professionalism, and effectiveness in strategic communication of your companies policies to its various publics in Nigeria’s vital oil and gas sector.”

She also noted that Mr. Soneye has raised the standard for corporate communication in the oil and gas industry and his recent award reflects both his hard work and dedication.

Chigbo, expressing personal joy over the achievement, noted that Mr. Soneye was once an active member of GOCOP before taking up his current role at NNPCL. She called his recognition a proud moment for the entire Guild, adding that it reinforces the value of professionalism and integrity.

“This achievement is not only personal to Mr. Soneye but also a proud badge for our Guild,” she said, noting that his success shows what members of GOCOP can achieve when they bring their skills into national service.

On behalf of the 120 members of GOCOP, Chigbo extended warm congratulations and encouraged him to keep building the image of NNPC Ltd in a positive and professional manner. “We are proud to have you as a member, and we pray God to grant you many more blessings of good health of mind and body to continue to excel in your job and service to the nation,” she added.
