Fuji icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has shared that he is not just associated with the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), but is a fully committed and proud member who has even built a parish for the white garment church.
In a pre-recorded chat with Agbaletu TV, the popular musician, who is originally a Muslim, spoke candidly about his spiritual journey and how it led him to the Celestial fold. He explained that his desire to understand God better made him explore different faiths, including both Islam and Christianity.
“I attend Celestial church. I am a bonafide member of the celestial church. A proud one. In fact, I built a church. I sought different religions while trying to know God in both popular religions. There’s nowhere I didn’t try to find God,” he said during the interview.
The Celestial Church of Christ, also referred to as “Cele” by many of its members, is known for its strict dress code during worship. Members wear white garments and are required to remove their footwear while dressed in them or when they step into the church’s main worship space. The church was founded by the late Samuel Oshoffa and remains one of the most prominent white garment churches in Nigeria.
K1 noted that he found peace and a deeper connection in the Celestial Church and has no regrets about embracing it. His revelation has surprised some fans, especially considering his earlier identity as a devoted Muslim.
Meanwhile, the veteran singer has recently been at the center of public conversation due to his use of the term “Ganusi” in a viral video, which many interpreted as a jab at Islamic clerics. The word, used while discussing preparations for his late mother’s burial, sparked backlash from several Islamic scholars who felt insulted.
