Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently leading the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with several key figures in attendance.
One of the most unexpected attendees at Thursday’s meeting was the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Eke Ibas.
His participation at the federal-level economic forum sparked quiet discussions both in and outside the meeting hall, as it is uncommon for sole administrators to feature in such high-level federal engagements.
The NEC meeting, which focuses on economic policy and coordination across Nigeria’s 36 states and the federal government, is traditionally chaired by the Vice President and includes state governors and other top officials.
Among the governors seen at the meeting were Delta State’s Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently switched political parties from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Other governors present include Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Bassey Otu of Cross River State.
