Defections: Atiku is a Loser Again – Presidency

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, following a fresh wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Onanuga described Atiku as “a loser again,” citing the collapse of his political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This reaction came after EMPOWERED NEWSWIRE reported that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, had crossed over to the APC, along with his predecessor and former vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa. Okowa had contested alongside Atiku during the 2023 presidential election, which they lost to President Tinubu.

Onanuga shared his remarks through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, claiming that the alliance Atiku had hoped to build with various political figures had already fallen apart.

“Atiku’s political future looks bleak. The coalition that he, El Rufai, Babachir, and new member Baba-Ahmed are cobbling together has disintegrated,” he wrote.

He further noted that several figures who were once considered potential allies have now distanced themselves from the former vice president, refusing to be associated with what Onanuga called a “leprous group.”

“Potential allies, including former running mate Ifeanyi Okowa and defunct CPC members, are giving his leprous group a wide berth. Atiku is a loser again,” the post added.
